Tell it like it is, but be sure how it is

Every once in a while I run across some good intentioned person who has some bad information, and passes it along for truth. When one does that they make themselves look bad, and propagate untruth. The phrase, "Rock and Role" is one of those terms Many considered it bad in the 50s. so some think it must still be bad. It was not inheritaly bad in the 50s. and is not what is being played today. There are at least 20 spin offs with different names. "Rock and Role" for the most part went away in the 70s. Check wikipedia Rock and role music. Those who participate in using this term are usually trying to lam bast some Churches for using contemporary music. Most of the Churches that use contemporary music do it in conjunction with hymns. and call it a blended service. With all the many modern day ways to communicate and learn, there is just no sense in trying to discredit some one you do not agree with. What do you think? Marlin Freeman.

  1. Each church has a right to use whatever music they please. Each song should be chosen for its scriptural message or rejected for the same. When something is proven wrong by the Bible, we should stand against it. When it is an opinion, we should grant each one the right to theirs. Rock and Roll (not role)would be a hard stretch to describe as spiritual songs. I could not argue in favor of rock and roll songs in worship. We are fast losing touch with the spiritual and the reverent and turning our worship into a carnal experience.

  2. I agree Brother Bishop. "Each song should be chosen for its scriptural message or rejected for the same." Also, if it is not conductive to a worshipful mindset (in other words, it distracts from focusing on humility, sins and the awesomeness and loving-kindness of God), it should be altogether rejected for worship services. Only a church can decide what is in these parameter's for her own congregants.
