Out side the box #3

Soooooo. It has been a few days, but here goes. out side the box , we are still on music. From the outcry on some other blogs you would think we insulted the holy grail, Well that was not our intent, but we as a whole need to get to the place to where we think and study Gods word before we try to quote it. like looking up the Greek word for Hymns and consult webster for common usage. When i I began this topic about music being deviceive, that was an understatement. Brethern let us not make rash statements that we cannot prove. I respect your opinion. But unless you offer some sound facts to prove your opinion I will only receieve it as such, your opinion. There is not one schred of proof that contemparie music will flood your Church with "undesireables" Just who are these folks that are "undesireable". If I read the scripture right the Lord teaches that we are to preach to ALL. and He by His grace will save those who believe, then He will change them. What do you think? Marlin Freeman

  1. The type of music used any Church is up to the individual Church. You can't mandate that in order to be baptist you have to use traditional hymns. The bottom line is the type of music used needs to be a type of Church that best meets the needs of the people the Church is reaching.
FOr example a radio station that is "broadcasting" it's music has put alot of work and thought into the type of music to play in the community so people will want to listen to said radio station. If the station changed formats every day in order to reach everyone the result will be that NOONE would tune into that station.
With that being said...music is only a tool not the key to succesful Churches. Without biblically relevant, doctrinally sound and practical messages growth (spiritual and physical) will never come.

  2. I would say that the type of music whether contemporary or classical hymns isn't all that important. I like both.

However, I DO believe that 7/11 music (seven words repeated 11 times) is not very God honoring. If contemporary music can't come up with biblical lyrics, and not repeat the same lyrics over and over again, then it doesn't belong in church.
