Numbers!!!!!!

What is this business numbers,? "They are just doing it for the mumbers" That is the most untrue statement that I have ever heard. What if 200 showed up at Your Church Sunday? Would that be all about numbers. and would you tell the one who takes care of the "record board" Do not post those extra ones, it will look like We are just doing it for the numbers. Do You have a record board in your Church? Is that all about numbers. There are six children that live close to my house, My wife and I pick them up and take them to Church at every service. Is that just about numbers? Brethren too often we try to question another's motives without haveing a bit of first hand knoledge about what they are doing. Who is intrested in numbers? Why do We want every Mission report to contain the numbers for the month. Oh yes just in case you are wondering.. We have NO record Board. What do you think? Marlin Freeman.

  1. I think some are all about numbers. It isn't because they have numbers. It is because of things they say. Comments like, "(a certain camp)was the best it's ever been last year" when (the certain camp) didn't even mention salvation last year, but it did have large numbers.

I've been to certain conferences (not AYC btw) where they had numbers, but didn't focus on worship or Scripture.

I would say any time someone willfully drops doctrines at the expense of reaching more people, he has done it for numbers. This is what many people are afraid of becoming. They equate change with a road that leads to the numbers mindset. I do not fault them for this fear.

They've seen it happen to the vast majority who change. I just hope they can see one can do things differently, add modern hymns to a services, use other instruments, and as long as the strong spiritual leaders are in charge (as they should be), a church will continue to remain scriptual.

The real problem is when we allow people who aren't doctrinally grounded to lead in our churches. Then we have pastors going the wrong way, leaders going the wrong way, and churches following.

  3. I wish our "Numbers Board" would "accidentally" get lost. I have "misplaced" it after wedding and the "fire: begins to role. Many are focusing more on the numbers in attendance and allowing the numbers to make choices for their ministry. IN surveys done they have found that 65% of people who attend church do so for the size of the congregation and the building. Can we say, "Great Falling Away."

  4. Bro. Joe, I personally do not see it as a falling away. I see it as an oppertunity. every one who attends are eather saved or lost. Maby those who are saved need some special classes to help them grow to full maturity. Those who are lost need some special attention to bring them to the saving knoledge of Christ. The teaching mimistery of any Church is the greatest challange any pastor will face. It has to take so many different directions all at the same time. Think on this some, and let me know what you think, Marlin Freeman.
